Random

i've got a big stack of quilts right now all waiting for their respective spots.  Some going to new homes, some waiting to be listed in my shop, and a few are trying to worm their way into staying with me!

This strip quilt (which I gave a quick tutorial on back here) is one of those favorites!  It's been laying patiently on the stack in my basement guest room where 'in limbo' quilts reside, but now it's time to move on.  I know a lot people keep the quilts they make, but I prefer to sell or give them away as soon as possible before they just end up staying here by default!

Not sure why I like this one so much, I guess the colors are just what I like.  I'm learning the trick slowly of adding more neutrals than what you think you want, and less brights.  In the end you'll have a sophisticated color scheme.  That's not to say that every quilt should be that way of course!  Some times you just need to go crazy with saturated colors!

Just a couple links for you this week:

I took this course by Pugly Pixel and I highly recommend it if you're at all interested in learning some basic CSS and HTML, just enough to customize your blog a bit.  I've learned so many little things, it's been rather exciting!

This dining room?!  Well, the whole house actually, I adore it!

Want some cute. affordable. handmade. items to give as Christmas gifts?  And help Haitian women support their families at the same time?  Go check out their website, and make sure to read their blog!  It's so inspiring, and btw, they will take donations of quality cotton fabrics over a yard!

Was that random enough for today?!!

  1. Is it your quilts, is it your photographs? I suppose it's both. You have the most beautiful quilt blog ever in the world. (And it would shock you how many quilt blogs I have subscribed to.)

  3. love all your randomness, and your strip quilt is so gorgeous, I love how you added some pink to it. I should add pink to my sewing, it does bring the quilt to the next level.

  7. I plan making one stack quilt for my daughter, is the next in my plans, but thought It would take long after the baby arrives... I wish it has the aspect of yours, is't so beautiful!
But I have too much to learn: color sense, value,... and then having the right fabrics. Maybe some day :)

(hey, love the aqua green on your wall :))

  8. I know what you mean about keeping quilts, when you make them - I used to and have a closet full of 80's and 90's colour combos, now, I sew and donate to various charities... keep the cozy feelings moving right along!

  10. I'm visiting from the Canadian blogathon and you do indeed have a lovely clean blog. I love the heart quilt and will be making one like this for a baby donation quilt. I'm still in the phase of making quilts for those I know and myself, but I do donate quilts as well.
