Two Fab Shops {and a giveaway!}
Wednesday, July 17, 2013
Exciting news, friends! You have the chance to win some amazing fabric! First off we've got this bundle of great solids from MadAboutPatchwork. You've likely heard me mention this shop before. One of the main reasons I like to shop here is because it's in Canada! Know what that means? It means that for once, the 'FREE SHIPPING for orders over $$' applies to me! This also means super fast shipping for me, compared to any US shop. Now for you Americans buying from MadAboutPatchwork, there's really no disadvantages either. The shipping is still reasonable and fast. It seems to always be faster going South than coming North.
Another reason I shop here often is because she has almost ALL the basics I could ever need. A huge selection of Kona cottons and Shot cottons, as well as the Essex Linen blends that I always keep in stock.
I could say more, like a nice selection of modern print collections, patterns and FQ bundles. The final awesome secret is that she has a Shot Cotton color chart available. If you're going to be using any amount of these fabrics, this is so valuable since Shot Cottons are notoriously hard to view online.
So now the fun part! That photo of fabrics above? You have a chance to win them! That's a half yard each of all those basics I mentioned in this post on fabric. So the top four are Kona Snow, Stone, Natural and Aqua. Then we have the four Shot Cottons, Aqua, Tobacco, Tangerine, and Persimmon. Also included will be a half yard of Essex Linen in Natural.
I forgot to mention that Pam has the above bundle available to purchase in her shop!
And that is not all, oh no, that is not all! Here's a Fat Eighth bundle of Modern Bliss, available to purchase from Westwood Acres. If you haven't visited this shop yet, then head right over! In the three years since Amanda opened this shop, it has become one of my favorites.
This shop is beautiful and inspiring. Fabrics are mainly sold in bundles of fat eighths, fat quarters, and half yards. This is somewhat unique since not many shops sell collections in these sizes of bundles (especially fat eighths!) The next best thing is that I find the price to be very reasonable. I always do the math on bundles to see how much it comes out to be per yard. I don't think you'll find a shop with a better price than Westwood Acres!
Whenever a collection comes out that I know I'll want a bundle of the whole range, I always check Westwood Acres first. If they have it in stock, I buy it here!
Amanda has offered to send this Fat Eighth bundle to one of my readers!
So now we have two bundles you could win. The half yard bundle of Solids and Shot Cottons, or the Fat Eighth bundle of this bright and happy rainbow fabric collection.
TO ENTER, tell me this in your comment: What's your favorite online fabric shop? (If you're like me and have 10 favorites, then just tell me your favorite one today.)

ReplyDeleteOooh I always love getting suggestions on Canadian shops. Shipping from the US is always so pricey, and it looks like even if I don't make a large order shipping from Mad About Patchwork would still be reasonable.
ReplyDeleteMy go to online shop in the Fat Quarter Shop, because they're selection is hard to mess with. If I need something specific they tend to be my best bet.
I have several favorites, but Hawthorn Threads is where I'll order from whenever possible.

ReplyDeleteI found a new one the other day called plush addict and got some really good deals on remnants!
ReplyDeletemy favorite is Fabricworm, but I also always go to Pink Chalk Fabrics - I like her selection. I do also have a bunch more, but those are my always-go-to stores. I'll have to check out Mad About Patchwork, because the free shipping to Canada would be a nice change :)

ReplyDeletewestwood may be a new fav, great shop :) thank you
ReplyDeleteI like fabricshack.com because they have a huge selection, tons of sale items, and shipping is always half price.
ReplyDeletefabricworm.com. I love that they put together bundles that aren't just the collection just like I would in the store!
ReplyDeletefabric.com just came through for me with a discontinued series so they are my #1 this week.
ReplyDeleteI have lots of favourites...I love the Westwood Acres "inside voices" bundles, but also shop pink castle alot for the selection and reasonable shipping to Canada :)
ReplyDeleteI do have lots of favorites but a current favorite today is Stash Fabrics. They have great customer service and fast shipping. And of course gorgeous fabrics. Thanks for the chance to win these beauties.
ReplyDeletei definitely love pink castle the most.
ReplyDeletei especially love the blogger bundles. :)

ReplyDeleteI really like Westwood Acres, Stash Modern Fabrics, and Fat Quarter Shop.
ReplyDeleteM favorite? Hmmm. I buy a like from Pink Castle, Stash, and Fat quarter shop. I dunno what my favorite is, though! Tey all have advantages :) thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWestwood Acres!
ReplyDeleteI haven;t shopped at but a few online reatilers. And Contemporary Cloth is where my last order that I am waiting is coming from. Thank you for a chance to enterer the fabric giveaways. All of these fabrics are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteMy most all time favorite is Hawthorne Threads! They have super fast shipping (seems your fabric is at your doorstep soon as you hit Send) and excellent customer service! And the more you buy the cheaper the fabric is, can't beat that and that's not even counting that they have a HUGE selection of just about everything, I just love them period.
ReplyDeleteI really like Hawthorne Threads as well because they have the discount for purchasing more than a yard of fabric, which is great for my wallet. Except that I wind up spending more on fabric... :)
ReplyDeletei like fabric.com because it's close and ships fast thanks
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I've never done online fabric shopping as my office is just a few doors away from a great NYC fabric shop City Quilter. But I do browse and would buy something online if it isn't available at my LQS.
ReplyDeleteI haven't shopped at Westwood Acres but I'll add them to my list! My favorite online store is Hawthorne Threads.
ReplyDeleteJust one on-line shop...that's tricky because so many of them are great but I think I would say Marmalade Fabrics today.
ReplyDeleteI recently bought quite a bit of fabric from Westwood Acres and do say was very impressed with them. Will definitely buy again from there.
ReplyDeleteI love Emma's Fabric Studio because it sells Kona Cotton and other Robert Kaufman fabrics. It is quite hard to source lovely American fabric at one place in the UK and this is my fav shop! xo

ReplyDeletek3ll3yb0b at gmail dot com

ReplyDeleteI love a bunch of online shops. Today I'm in love with Pink Chalk fabrics. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth
Lwghosts at yahoo dot com
I love the Intrepid Thread, Pink Chalk, and Sew Lux the best. :) Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI really love Hawthorne Threads. They are so great!
ReplyDeleteI have ordered fabric from many different on line fabric shops and been pleased... The latest last week was the great fabric deals on the Craftsy website. In fact the deals were so popular that during the time I continued shopping items in my cart were no longer available. Thanks for the chance to win
ReplyDeleteThere are several that I use and love including Westwood Acres. I like to shop around. My favorite right now would be Fat Qtr Shop and then Fabricworm for organic fabric. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI love the sewing studio for their really reasonably priced precuts. Thanks xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to pick one favorite but I like Fresh Squeezed Fabrics a lot.
ReplyDeleteToday, it's Pink Castle Fabrics. Thanks for the great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteBig fan of Intrepid Thread and Stash on Etsy. I've had my eye on bundles from Westwood as well.
ReplyDeleteI have never bought fabric online so no favorite yet. I am planning on checking out everyone's suggestions in the comments because I bought a new machine today and can't wait to start something new!
ReplyDeleteSeriously so many favorites. Julie from Intrepid Thread, FQS, Westwood Acres...yeah way too many. ♥
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to support Canadian shops like Mad About Patchwork and My Fabric Spot:) in terms of selection though, I like how Sondra at Contemporary Cloth stocks a very unique style of prints; same with Drygoods. Oh, and let's not forget Superbuzzy!
ReplyDeleteHawthorne Threads is my go-to online fabric store, because they have so much in stock and their prices are good. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI've been really happy with stash modern fabrics
ReplyDeleteToday I love SewFineFabric on Etsy. $2.50 flat rate shipping to the US! Talk about an excuse to fill up your shopping cart ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Sew Lux fabrics. They are so sweet and answer my millions of newbie questions!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway, being I am new to quilting I don't really have a fave, maybe it will be westwood acres.
ReplyDelete(smjohns63 at yahoo dot com)
I love Material Girl in Grand Island, NE! :) the little fat-eighth you are giving away is my fave!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm I love Spoonflower.com the best I think. Great blog, BTW!
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite shop is Hawthorne Threads. So many wonderful shops to check out in the future, for sure!
ReplyDelete(majesticjenkinsATgmailDOTcom)
I like Julie at Intrepid Thread and Hawthorne Threads. Thanks for the chance to win. I'm glad to hear about the shops.
ReplyDeleteI try to support my local shop as much as possible but do buy some online. So many great shops out there--I guess it would be one of the Pinks-Castle or Chalk
ReplyDeleteMad About Patchwork is my favourite Canadian online shop. And increasingly I turn to it since the cost of international shipping has gone up so much. I peruse the sale section regularly and am so glad that I can do that online. I like the way the fabric essentials are classified.
ReplyDeleteI like Fabric Shoppe - they may not be the biggest but they have GREAT service and have gotten me out of a bind when i didn't order enough (several times, LOL). But I'm always looking for new shops to check out :)
ReplyDeleteI buy mainly from fabric.com since I can usually find a coupon
ReplyDeleteI haven't let myself buy fabric online yet. I think it would start a dangerous habit! I mostly just stalk the fabric at fat quarter shop and on etsy. If I oogle it long enough, maybe it will come home on its own accord. I'm taking the Field of Dreams approach.
ReplyDeleteFresh Stash on Etsy! (But actually I have a long list of favorites along with it...)
ReplyDeleteI like the FQS!
ReplyDeleteToday I like Fat Quarter Shop. Thanks for the great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteRight at this moment - it's Pink Castle fabrics! That may change though! Thanks to you and your sponsors for hosting such a generous give away!
ReplyDeleteWonderful giveaway! I am VERY new to quilting, and trying to build up a stash now, but I just ordered from Hawthorne Threads and had a great experience!
ReplyDeleteAs you I love ordering from Mad About Parchwork. It is so fast. I just love your basic FQ bundle. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteThey are all favorites. I like Hancocks-Paducah for bargain prices on the fabric I buy for charity sewing.
ReplyDeleteI used to buy at fabric.com, but found when the fabric arrives it doesn't look quite like I imagined--sometimes the color was wrong, sometimes the pattern size was way off, even though they include a ruler to show gauge. So that must be something wrong with me, not them. Now I figure out what I want to buy (designer, color, pattern, or whichever) and then head over to etsy to see who's selling it!
ReplyDeleteI have so many, but right now it's Connecting Threads for reasonable prices, great service and good quality fabric, and The Fat Quarter Shop for designer lines and great service. Thanks for the chance at some lovely fabric!!
ReplyDeleteI love shopping at Mad About Patchwork, and I am going to check out Westwood Acres. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI like hawthorn threads but since I'm a Canadian too I should check out Mad About Patchwork!!!
ReplyDeleteI shop Westwood Acres a lot. You are right it has the best prices in bundles and they usually have the line I am hunting for.
ReplyDeleteThe intrepid thread and FQS will always be my favorites. They are so generous sponsoring so many prizes that I can't help but love them both.
Right now my favorite is Hawthorne Threads!!
ReplyDeleteI've fallen in love with Pink Castle Fabrics and Westwood Acres :) I can't choose just one!
ReplyDeleteI use 'I don't do dishes" on Etsy, but I also like Pink Castle Fabrics :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
i love hawthorne threads, they have such a great selection of voile
ReplyDeleteHawthorne threads because of how easy they make it to find coordinating colors.
ReplyDeletei don't have one but what I do like is all the little retailers on Etsy who stock the collections and fabrics I am looking for. So when I see something I do want a quick search yields the best price per yard, shipping costs and transit time since I look for places on the west coast close to where I live.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI love the FatQuarterShop. So easy to navigate, so many great options!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI am having a SENIOR BLONDE moment.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite online fabric shop is the Fat Quarter Shop. Orders are dealt with so quickly, the fabric arrives before I have finished placing my order, or so it seems.
Wonderful range wonderful service.
Wow MadAboutPatchwotk looks like a great fabric shop. I love a lot so my fav at the moment is an etsy shop called Westwood Acres. Thank you for the chance! :-)
ReplyDeleteI like Mad About Patchwork & have ordered from there, but for big selection & bargain prices it's hard to top Thousands of Bolts! Even after the US postal rate increase, it's worth ordering from! annesimonot@sasktel.net
ReplyDeleteI would have to say the Fat Quarter Shop, so easy to navigate
ReplyDeleteI love Westwood Acres, and also Sew Me a Song on Etsy. For shipping overseas I find these etsy shops give better deals.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite shop is Westwood Acres-- I just received an order from them today, coincidentally. I love getting bundles from them.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite would be Fat Quarter Shop. So many great option and very efficient in delivery service too! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI really love the Missouri Star Quilt Complany. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI am lucky to live close enough to my favorite quilting store, Cabbage Rose Quilting, which also sells their fabric online at: www.cabbagerosequilting.com. Although I have been quilting for a few years, I am loving your "Learn to Quilt Quiltalong". It is always fun and helpful to hear other quilters tips and ideas. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteSo hard to pick just one, but I would go with Sew Lux Fabrics. I love getting their pretty packages, and they have terrific service!
ReplyDeleteI actually haven't bought any fabric online. Only locally. However, I do follow some and Fat Quarter Shop tends to catch my eye. I haven't really looked closely at them to make a purchase yet.
ReplyDeleteAwesome giveaway - thank you for the opportunity to win!
ReplyDeleteIf it's a random piece that I've coveted (say from Heather Ross!) I typically shop around on Etsy but for a collection I really like Hawthorne Threads. For me their website is very easy to navigate.
I am still looking for the perfect online fabric shop. Though I am very often tempted to buy online, the outrageous shipping costs to Germany keep me from actually ordering. And I don't understand, why the shipping rates differ a lot from shop to shop, like between 16 and 30$ for the same package. So, my favorite online shop would be one with reasonable shipping rates, an easy to navigate website and a wide selection of designers and fabrics :-)
ReplyDeleteI like both your sponsor shops, but today my favorite is The Intrepid Thread!
ReplyDeleteOh man! I do have a lot of fave shops!! But the last one I ordered fabric from was pink chalk fabrics. But my go to site when I'm searching for something is Hawthorne Threads! Thanks for the chance!!
ReplyDeleteHi! I really like Hawthorne Threads. They have great service and a really nice newsletter that highlights all new fabrics and patterns.
ReplyDeleteI love to buy from JAQS fabrics, but I also love Fat Quarter Shop. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI do have lots of favorites, but if I had to pick one it would be the Fat Quarter Shop, they are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLove Pink Castle Fabrics! Thanks for the opportunity to win such great fabrics!
ReplyDeleteGerman shops are smaller, but I love them, too.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is "farbstoff.org" by Brigitte Heitland
Kind regards and thanks for the chance to win :0)
Karin
Westwood Acres is my favorite online shop!
ReplyDeleteI love looking at the range on Fat Quarter Shop, but I buy from sewpretty.co.nz because it's local and the free shipping over $xx applies to me! Thanks for the chance to enter an awesome giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI always buy from Hawthorne Threads despite living in the UK, it still works out cheaper even with shipping and tax!!!
ReplyDeleteI Love Hawthorne Threads, though I haven't ordered there yet, I will in the near future, because they have such a good selection. As I live in Germany it#s not always easy to get fabrics from my favorite designers, like Michael Miller, Denyse Schmidt, even Lori Holt for Riley Blake is hard to get here.
ReplyDeleteI live in New Zealand but buy most of my fabric from the US. I have bought from several online stores. Probably most often from Fabric Shack and Fat Quarter Shop. I am always on the lookout for stores with good shipping prices and a good range of fabrics at good prices. I will take a look at your 2 giveway's websites.
ReplyDeleteI have been very pleased with the fabric and customer service from Intrepid Thread.
ReplyDeleteI live in Australia & shop mainly from American online shops, the two I shop at the most are Pink Castle Fabrics (great sales) & Fabric Shack (great reduced shipping rates, such a great thing!) . Thanks for the lovely giveaway.
ReplyDeleteYes, thanks for the lovely giveaway!! I shop at Cotton Tale Fabrics in Hillcrest, and I used to (when the Rand Dollar exchange rate wasn't so bad), at the Fat Quarter Shop :)
ReplyDeleterenesharp@telkomsa.net
I really like Pink Castle Fabrics but I have just made a purchase from Westwood Acres. I like trying out new stores as long as shipping is reasonable and of course I get sucked in by sales and discounts.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win.
Abbe
I really love Pink Castle fabrics but have also got some super deals from DelRay Fabrics as well as fabric.com
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! I love Connecting Threads. I love one of their designers, Jenni Calo and they have really great regular prices and really good sale prices too!
ReplyDeleteHawthorne Threads and Pink Chalk. I have been eying persimmon since your post!
ReplyDeleteI love Pink Chalk Fabrics :)
ReplyDeleteI'm from Europe, two of my favorite shops are ElaStellmach and Staghorn on DaWanda.
ReplyDeleteHancock's of Paducah for the great sales!
ReplyDeleteI have some great shops in town but love the fabric collections at Pink Chalk too
ReplyDeleteHard to pick just one, but for today, it's Hawthorne Threads. Love both bundles.
ReplyDeleteHawthorne threads is my most used website. But, I love supporting the smaller shops on etsy whenever I can.
ReplyDeleteHmm, my favorite online place to buy fabric would have to be Connecting Threads!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge on line shopper. I like to support local but I have ordered from the Fat Quarter Shop. Thanks for the chance and for telling us about these Canadian shops : )
ReplyDeleteI think The Fat Quarter Shop is my favorite, even though I live in Texas so have to pay sales tax on my orders!
ReplyDeletetstanulis@mac.com
It is hard to pick a favorite, but if forced I would say Alewives in Maine! Between their unique selection and friendly service ... well I have been a fan for several years. After reading many of the comments above I will have to check some of these out. Thanks
ReplyDeleteLovely giveaway! I haven't shopped at mad about patchwork. I have loved shopping at west wood acres. My favorite shop today is fabric shack.
ReplyDeleteI haven't done a ton of online fabric shopping, the only places I have used before are: Fabric.com, Fat Quarter Shop & Pink Chall Fabrics.
ReplyDeleteFabricworm has been great for me. Fast shipping, good customer service and i was totally infatuated with the whole Jay-Cyn fabric line they had for a while. Now I just like what they have. Lots of great Etsy shops too. Cami
ReplyDeleteequilter.com
ReplyDeleteToday, thespiderswebfabricshop.com is my favorite online.
ReplyDeleteI do have several favorites, but have probably purchased the most from Hawthorne Threads and Pink Castle Fabrics.
ReplyDeleteMost of my online purchases are from Westwood acres..got a great bundle of Art Gallery "Indian Summer" from her two weeks ago. I also use Quilt Taffy, Fat Quarter Shop, Moona Fabrics, and a few other Etsy shops.
ReplyDeleteHawthorne Fabrics is my current fave!
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite online shop is Quilthome.com. They have great fabrics, prices and ship very quickly!
ReplyDeleteOH, there are so many I like. Christa Quilts has free shipping (to the U.S.). The one I really love is Ladyfingers Sewing...great prices and she carries all the Jo Morton Fabrics!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!!
www.intrepidthread.com is my most favorite, but like you, I have several that are my favorites and I like to use - including Westwood Acres.
ReplyDeleteI like Hawthorne Threads. I also use Pink Chalk and several Etsy shops frequently-maybe too frequently.
ReplyDeleteLinda
