This has not been my lucky week for sewing time! This group of nine star blocks is the extent of my sewing so far. As you may have guessed, this is a tentative beginning for my son's quilt. So it's not rainbows, but it's not mostly grays either, so we're finding a happy compromise (I think!)
Big surprise, I decided to go with wonky star blocks, because star quilts always win in my opinion. I might mix in a few other blocks as well, or not. These blocks finish at 9" square, so I'm planning to make 63 of them.
These 9 blocks are a good start right? They can get a little tedious to make, but I think they're a no fail recipe!

I love your fabric combinations! The colors remind me of the graphics used in vintage 40's travel posters, which is interesting because your photos are travel themed.
ReplyDeleteNow I can't wait to see the finish! I thought of you today! I was finally getting my stash moved onto the shelves in my new sewing room... Can't think of anything more fun :) Except my quilty conscience was pricked when I realized the ratio of UFOs to Finished Quilts in my repertoire (did I actually spell that right?) I think I shall have to set some "finish" goals!!

ReplyDeletePerfect start! And I think it will last longer than if you went with a straight rainbow, he might grow out of that, but who could grow out of gorgeous colorful stars? :D
ReplyDeleteOoh they are lovely - I especially love the newspapery/adverty print on the bottom row middle square. I am just getting into quilting - I had no idea how fabulous it was until around 6 weeks ago!
