i know you've seen this quilt before. but i'm sucked in by the lure of prizes, so i'm entering this quilt in the Blogger's Quilt Festival. Do follow the link if you like looking at quilts!
i couldn't decide if i should enter this in the bed quilt category, or hand quilted category. i've decided on 'hand quilted' since that's my favorite part of this quilt. it's so special to me that so many aunts, grandmas and friends helped me quilt it.
to find out a few more details about it, you can read my previous post here. or you can type 'swoon' into the search box on my blog and you'll find all the posts where i talked about it.
and a few of you wondered what design i used for hand quilting so i drew a few lines just to give you an idea.
so ya, my lines in real life are just a bit straighter:) Basically I knew I wanted to outline the shapes of the blocks. So I went 1/4" inside each piece. I also like my quilting to have evenly distributed density, so I echoed the shapes in the larger pieces. The background was a bit trickier to fill in, but I just followed the outline of the design, making my lines about 1" apart. I ended up with diamond designs between the blocks, and cross shapes in the corners.
This is such a beautiful quilt and thanks for showing how you quilted it. Really lovely!
ReplyDeleteHand quilting something so big really is a huge achievement - it's gorgeous and so special with the help from family members!
ReplyDeleteIt's always been gorgeous - but the hand-quilting really makes this one. Lovely to see it again!
ReplyDeleteso beautiful. Wish I could go to an in person show to admire the quilting.
ReplyDeleteIt's captivating and I can appreciate all of the time and hands that involved.
ReplyDeleteOh my, that quilting is over the top! So glad you drew the lines to show us what you did. Now taking a closer look... I see it!
ReplyDeleteThis is one I would really really love to see in person! Well done!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and so much hand stitching!
ReplyDeleteSwoon is definitely on my "to-quilt" list. And I would love to hand quilt something one day. Problem is that I crochet too, and I would have to give up my evening crocheting to do hand quilting. Decisions, decisions!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you hand quilted the entire thing! It is just stunning! I'm in the process of making a Swoon and would love to do something similar but in reality I won't as I just want to get it on my bed! This is a truly stunning version x
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and the handstitching is a lovely touch!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful quilt. Well done with all the hand quilting. It must look stunning in your home.
ReplyDeleteA very gorgeous swoon quilt and amazing hand quilting. Wishing you all the best of luck in the competition. Xo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful swoon! And the quilting looks fantastic, and so comfy-cozy!
ReplyDeleteThe hand quilted texture on this is so pretty! I think my favorite photo is of it crumpled up on the bed - the quilt's natural habitat. I love the fabrics and colors you used - really interesting choices!
ReplyDeleteThank you,
ReplyDeleteThe given information is very effective.
I'l keep update with the same.

ReplyDeleteNow what to do with all the other fabrics!
